What is a Colitis Symptom?

Colitis symptom is the name given to different symptoms of colitis observed in patients suffering from this disease:

1. Patients suffering from colitis report abnormal pain and tenderness in the abdomen.

2. In some cases, patients also report that they have high fever. Due to the inflammation in the intestinal walls, the colon tissue enlarges.

3. Redness is observed in the colon which is accompanied with light to moderate bleeding. In most cases of patients suffering from Colitis, ulcers and scars are observed on the walls of the intestinal tract.

4. Fulminant colitis is said to the most dangerous form of colitis of all forms and has a very fatal edge to it. Diarrhea with blood traces in stools and anemia accompanied by fever are symptoms of a person suffering from Colitis. In such cases, the patient complains of tremendous pain in the abdomen which gets accentuated when he passes the stools.

5. Patients who complain of severe pain in their abdomen resemble patients who suffer from Septicaemia. Septicaemia is a medical condition in which inflammations appear on the whole body due to blood poisoning. This is life threatening and needs immediate medical attention.

6. In severe cases of fulminant colitis, the nose and the ears enlarge and worse still, their functioning is greatly impaired.

Viewed as an entirety of symptom that points to colitis having an overall impact on the human body.

The symptoms of Colitis are visual results that we can see as a proof for the damage that colitis causes on the body systemas a whole. Apart from the digestive system which starts malfunctioning due to Colitis, the circulatory system of the body is also impacted in certain cases. In certain cases, the circulatory system malfunction may cause multiple organ failure that may eventually lead to death. Therefore, be cautioned that while many forms of colitis present themselves simply as physical discomfort that can be controlled by proper diet, the more serious forms, and symptoms call for immediate medical attention.

Therefore, it is highly important that early symptoms of colitis are detected in a patient soon enough to apply a treatment plan. Please note that colitis is not a continuous disorder, meaning that a sufferer has times when there aren't any symptoms at all because It has its remission (non-infectious) and flare-up (times when the infection show up) phases. However, it remains extremely important that a patient takes absolute care of his body during both the phases since the objective is to completely eradicate the symptoms of colitis from the body.
